The Bhalaswa dump is one of New Delhi’s largest landfills. Its towering piles of trash stretch on for 40 acres. Dozens of children work at the landfill, as so-called “ragpickers” – collecting anything that can be recycled, reused or sold to make a little extra money for their families. Laura Salm-Reifferscheidt went to meet some of them.
